Once, while spelunking in some internet forum, I found someone describing a scene from some video game that terrified them in their childhood. Somebody else identified this video game as Zork Nemesis: The Forbidden Lands, a 1996 Myst-style point-and-click adventure game.

Well, Zork’s one of the oldest video games there is, ain’t it? I thought the Zork series was largely comedic in tone, but for whatever else it might be, Zork Nemesis is not that.
