Temple of Rom - 1984 - TRS-80 Color Computer Cartridge
Temple of ROM is a very cool top-down dungeon exploration game by Rick Adams. It was inspired by the game Adventure for the Atari 2600, and the main objective was to have a larger scale, and offer scrolling, rather than having the screens "flip" from one to the other.
We were very fortunate to be able to interview the author of this game, Rick Adams, and you can see that interview here:

After doing said interview, a lot of things were uncovered, a map of the entire temple was produced, the author, Rick Adams annotated that map explaining what the different areas were, and what other plans were in store for those areas, and finally, all of the treasures and items were also added to that map, which can be found here:

Temple of ROM is a arcade/adventure game in which you are collecting treasures, and battling monsters, in a LARGE, scrolling maze. In some ways, it resembles the Atari 2600 classic cartridge Adventure, but only loosely. A rather neat story about the programming of this game: it was actually programmed on a cassette only system, using the EDTASM+ cartridge assembler.
There is a also hidden "cheat": if you hold the button down long enough, you can walk through walls. Rick points out that this doesn't help you as much as one might think, though.
