Terminator 2: Judgment Day Arcade (1991 Rail Shooter) Full Playthrough
7It's Judgment Day. Excellent. Kids needed to have their parents with them to the arcades back in the day because this game got an adult rating of R for Righteous. We play as friendly robot Arnold Schwarzenegger, the T-800 Terminator Model captured by the human resistance and programmed to help mankind. Unlike the first movie, this time he's the good guy that's here to save the world from the machine apocalypse. He starts out in 2029 as he helps fight off the machines together with the human resistance. He then travels back in time to save John Connor, future resistance leader, from the T-1000. I am the future.
This Rail Shooter is really unfair with all the stuff flying right at the player at all times and most enemies take forever to kill. The main purpose of this game was to promote the movie, not to give kids an enjoyable experience in the arcades. To make things a bit more fair, I change the settings so Arnold would get 99 missiles/shotgun shells per continue, because the machine gun is really weak and overheats really fast. No problemo.
Some advice for the tougher parts that probably made tons of players rage quit this game:
1. Adult John Connor truck segment: ignore all Endoskeletons because shooting at them will hit the truck. Focus instead on the aircraft hovering above the truck. Try not to use missiles as they may hit the truck but it's your call. If you want to take the risk of shooting the Endoskeletons aim at the lowest part of the screen and shoot their legs. Excellent.
2. Swat Van Chopper segment: you need fast reflexes to shoot the chopper when it pops on screen. Just have the targeting cursor pointed on the top-left of the van and anticipate where the chopper might come from and spray that area when the chopper pops. Easier said than done. By the way it took several tries for me to get this part right but with editing I show only the first 3 attempts plus the final one.
3. T-1000 Nitrogen Truck Fight: you need to knock down the T-1000 and spray the truck to release all that Nitrogen on top of him. Rinse and repeat and don't take too long because he'll just regen all that temperature (health) back. Hasta La Vista, Baby.
4. T-1000 Final Fight Molten Lava: don't let the T-1000 get anywhere close to John Connor. If he kills John Connor, you'll have to repeat the Nitrogen Truck Fight again. Once you see him facing the kid and walking towards him, mow him down with the machine gun/shotgun. When he pops in the center of the screen with a bit of distance from Arnold, push him near the edge with gunfire and make sure to get the M-79 Grenade Launcher and use it for the final push. Without the grenade launcher you can't win. Terminated.

Why do mobs take forever to die in Terminator 2: Judgment Day Arcade. True story when I was a kid and played Terminator 2: Judgment Day Arcade in the arcades I never reached the resistance hideout because I die so fast and give up and go home crying. Another true story when I was a kid: I watched two adults play the Adult John Connor Truck segment and they kept losing over and over then finally they left in frustration. I decided not to insert a coin to start from the truck segment in Terminator 2: Judgment Day Arcade because if two adults can't beat this part, what can a dumb kid like me do, finish the whole game??? Who the heck thought it was a good idea to implement the SWAT Van segment in Terminator 2: Judgment Day Arcade. I am the future and I have played Terminator 2: Judgment Day Arcade. Terminator 2: Judgment Day Arcade is excellent for making kids rage quit. Terminator 2: Judgment Day Arcade terminated my fragile little mind.
