Terranigma | Chapter 01 - The Outset | CRT Shader

As you decided, we're diving into Terranigma! This is my first time truly playing the game—I only had a brief experience about a year ago, thanks to Resonant Arc’s retrospective and their frequent mentions of it. However, time and scheduling kept me from fully experiencing it until now.
I hope you enjoy the journey! I'm playing with the Pixel Freemaster hack, which improves the fonts and recolors Ark’s hair to blue—apparently, his originally intended design.
In the first chapter, Ark seems to be responsible for a catastrophe in this strange world. I’m not entirely sure if this place is physically inside the planet, like Agartha, or if it exists as some kind of parallel dimension. Either way, Ark must resurrect the landmasses to unfreeze the villagers, and that’s exactly what we set out to do. Along the way, we encounter a mysterious, antagonistic figure at each tower, challenging us to complete its trials.
Before we leave for the actual planet Earth, our childhood friend Elle works tirelessly to craft us a crystal-threaded mantle. And with that, we bid farewell and set off on our journey to restore the world!

Terranigma is an action RPG developed by Quintet and released for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) in 1995. The game follows Ark, a mischievous boy from an underground village, who embarks on a grand journey to revive the surface world after accidentally unleashing a catastrophe. Featuring real-time combat, puzzle-solving, and an emotionally driven story, Terranigma explores themes of creation, destruction, and rebirth. Despite never being officially released in North America, it remains a cult classic among RPG fans for its deep narrative, unique gameplay mechanics, and stunning 16-bit visuals.
