I don't recall his first form being this TIME CONSUMING to kill, HOLY CRAP, he hardly goes near the platform when he is in the spiky ball form. That was so damn cheap, his movements were so damn sporadic and always went to the top of the screen and below as well, worsen by the fact that he can ONLY be damaged when he stops. The only way to damage him when he is on the circular platform, is to deflect the orb of light he tosses at you to, hopefully it hits him back because your positioning is crucial to the angle in which it travels back. His sonic boom can be easily avoided by staying in either the far right or far left. His Gaia's rage is pretty quick and can easily inflict damage, the best way to avoid it is to immediately perform running dash thrusts. Occasionally he'll toss Magirocks at you that explode eventually or if you touch them.
His SECOND form is a pretty awesome looking boss, but is also a lot easier. I actually didn't know that he could inflict status ailments, it has never occurred in past playthroughs; probably a good idea to wear the Pro Armor instead of the Hero Armor. His circular projectiles are easy to avoid, but his helm laser is pretty difficult though it doesn't inflict a lot. The one thing to keep in mind is his torso light ray spread (I seriously don't know if there are actual names for his moves...), you must immediately use LR guarding to reduce damage to mere single digits for the duration of the attack (aka chipping damage); otherwise that attack will constantly shave off half your life until only 1 HP remains in which case healing is an absolute must. He can only be damaged when he draws closer to platform which you must lure him, by staying on the bottom of the platform.
