The Wizard is an NPC, which must be saved from either caves or the world dungeon after defeating the Wall of Flesh. His spawn location is completely random.

Like the other bound NPC's, the Wizard can be freed by right clicking upon him. However, Autopause needs to be off. This can be changed in the options menu.
