Terraria is about you trying to survive against dangerous monsters: Flying eyeballs, flying brains, flying tablet... things fly too much in Terraria, if you ask me. And guess what, if you're defeated, you not only lose a handful of coins, but you also lose half of your HP when respawn! I still don't understand why a player respawns with only the half HP. Solution: use grenade. No, not toward enemy, but toward... the floor?
