Originally unveiled in 2012, the Model X is an all-electric luxury crossover utility vehicle made by Tesla. It can seat a maximum of seven passengers and tow up to 2,200 kg of weight. Seen here at the Mobile World Congress 2019 in Barcelona is the Model X 75D, which gets a 75 kilowatt-hour lithium-ion battery and an electric motor that produces 259 horsepower. This massive electric vehicle is said to have a driving range of about 380 kilometres on a single charge. It can pull away from stationary speeds and hit 100 kilometres per hour in about six seconds.

The Model X has a total cargo space of 88 cubic feet and features massive 20-inch wheels. The boot has a cavernous 2,180 litres of space. In comparison, the average sedan in India has about 500 litres of boot space. Not counting its electric drive, the Model X is known perhaps best by its rear Falcon Wing doors, which open and close automatically. These doors use a wide-band radar system to ensure they don’t hit anything around them while opening or closing by themselves.

The Model X comes with Tesla’s Autopilot software, which allows the car to steer and brake by itself in certain situations. It’s also capable of changing lanes and performing a parallel park all by itself without any user intervention. The Tesla Model X is still a long way from being sold in India, but when it does, we can expect it to cost upwards of 62 lakh rupees.
