Today we’re taking a first look at Test of Resolve—a card-driven wargame using D12 dice that, in my opinion, might be the best set of rules for recreating the Hundred Years’ War, the Second Scottish Wars of Independence, and the Wars of Britain’s Succession. We’ll do a quick flip-through and explore the core concepts—funneling, crowding, arrow storms—and how army deployment choices can bring both advantages and risks. While some players prefer D6 and aren’t fans of cards, the mechanics here capture the feel of medieval warfare in a unique way. This isn’t a deep dive; it’s about understanding the philosophy of the rules before we jump into full battle reports to see them in action.”
