This is another classic example of how I start mocking up a pattern just by "playing around with an idea" and it finally turns into something decent.

An interesting thing about this pattern is that the sequencing after the perfect clear enabled me to build a cross, which ends up looking like it's sitting on top of some sort of "split skull" or "ancient alien skull". It's too bad that the top and bottom half of the heads weren't swapped at the end; the cross would've been inversely sitting on top of the head!
