Morgoth commanded a multitude of dark creatures in his army, which he utilized to wage war against the Elves and Edain of Beleriand during the First Age. The prominent leaders of his forces were the fallen Maiar Gothmog and Sauron. The primary constituents of Morgoth's army were the Orcs, who formed the majority of the troops and at one point, were so abundant that they covered the entire Anfauglith. Occasionally, werewolves were employed as mounts. At times, a significant portion of this army was led by Gothmog, and later by Sauron.
