- Story -
In this part, we start off as our protagonist, Isaac. Our village, Vale, is engulfed in a terrible storm and the boulder perched atop the nearby Mt. Aleph is threatening to come down and crush us all. Our mother rushes us out of the house to seek shelter, but leaves our side to try and help the other villagers. We run into our childhood friend, Garet, and together we encounter Jenna and her family in distress as her brother, Felix, clings for dear life after falling into the river. We rush off to find help for Felix and upon our arrival, the Mt Aleph boulder comes crashing down, taking away Felix, Jenna's parents, and Isaac's father. Moments later we attempt to return to the village entrance to get help, but encounter a mysterious duo who mumble about setting off a trap in Sol Sanctum, which caused the storm and the boulder to fall. The duo declare that Isaac and Garet were eavesdropping on them and defeat the two easily outclassed children to silence them. Such is the Prologue of the game.
Three years later, we reunite with Isaac, Garet, and Jenna who are on their way to visit Kraden who offered to teach them about Alchemy. Along the way, they run into the Mysterious Duo again who reveal themselves to be Saturos and Menardi, although Isaac and Garet lost their memories of the duo three years ago. The trio pass by them, and meet up with Kraden only to learn that Saturos and Menardi may have snuck into Sol Sanctum, a holy place protected by the villagers of Vale to keep the secrets of Alchemy and Psynergy hidden from the rest of the world. They all agree to head for Sol Sanctum to see if Saturos and Menardi had snuck in.

During this game we fight as warriors called "Adepts" who wield a power called Psynergy. Psynergy is split into the four basic elements of Earth (Venus), Fire (Mars), Wind (Jupiter), and Water (Mercury). Each Adept is skilled in one of these elements of Psynergy and our first two party members, Isaac and Garet, are Earth and Fire Adepts respectfully. Most elemental Psynergy is used in battle only, however there are some types that can be used outside of battle to solve puzzles such as "Move" which Isaac and Garet can both use to "move" objects out of their way from a short distance (you see Garet use this just before Jenna meets up with him after the 3 year time skip).
