The Air Zoo is home to the longest and largest indoor hand-painted mural in the world according to the Guinness World Records* on April 29th, 2004. This mural painted by Rick Herter, tells the story of flight beginning with the early 20th century and exploring WWI, the Golden Age of Flight, WWII, the Jet Age, and then off into space. And next time you visit, be sure to check out the kids room which features a mythological-themed mural created by Portage-based artist Sy Ellens.

*Please note, a mural in India measuring 9,731 sq. ft is currently listed online as the record holder for largest indoor mural (2005). The Air Zoo's mural measures 27,880 sq ft. A certificate was awarded to the Air Zoo in 2004 by Guinness World Records and we are working with GWR to confirm the designation and reclaim our record. Stay tuned for updates!
