The navy's latest F-35C has an unrefueled range of 750 nautical miles, while the range of the DF-21D is 1750 nautical miles, which means you can't even dock carriers at Guam as it falls within the DF-21's range. Former U.S. Naval Operations chief Gary Roughhead says, "you can't put a carrier out of action by a hole through torpedoes, but you can sure put it out of action by a hole on the deck, with a missile like DF-21."
