Armagetron Advanced, a 3d game based off of the lightcycle scenes from the Disney movie "Tron". The basic goal of the game is to eliminate or "core dump" opponents by forcing their lightcycle to run into the walls that the lightcycles constantly lay down behind them. Sounds simple enough right? Well, there are many variations and gametypes, each unique.

The game type featured in the video is called Capture the Flag or CTF for short. If you've ever played a first person shooter it should be fairly simple to figure out. You try and grab the enemy's flag (The smaller opposite colored zone) and bring it to your base. (The large zone the is the same color as you.) Because core dumped teammates can be respawned by entering the base, rounds can go on for quite a bit, or until the ALMIGHTY DEATH ZONE appears. (not featured in this vid.)

There are two ways to gain points in CTF; you get 4 points for capturing the flag, and 1 point for core dumping opponents. A team usually has 3 main roles that the players fill; defense, attack, and sweep. Players who are defense circle their flag to create a box around it and protect to from being grabbed by the enemy. Players on attack duty try and break through the opposing team's defense and capture the flag. Sweep players usually intercept incoming enemies and engage them in dogfights in the midfield, or they kill unwary attackers to help out defense. Sweep players also are expected to respawn the team in their free time. However, this takes a lot of teamwork so it usually takes a few rounds for you everyday tronners to get used to the people on their team. Clan teams however, already have established roles and know how to work well together, and will most likely destroy everyday teams due to superior skill and/or organization.

The "physics" in CTF are far from the original and default settings. There is medium rubber, allowing for small digs and stabs, and the cycle delay is low. (Which allows for tight double binds) This makes for very fast starting play with many players on the field and more slow paced stalemates as positions get established and the teams start to function.

Currently: CTF is a relatively popular gametype but it's not as played as in it's heyday.
