Mama Kangaroo's baby has has been kidnapped by a bunch of dirty apes and it's your job to help Mama rescue her joey.

The game is a multi-screen arcade game similar to Hunchback. Each screen contains multiple obstacles that must be avoided or jumped over in order to reach the far right and progress to the next.

In addition to obstacles, there are various enemies that will block the player's path. These can be avoided, but they can also be defeated with a well timed kangaroo punch or kick (I never figured out how to kick...).

At the end of each stage, a rival kangaroo must be fought. Once beaten, the baby joey is rescued and the player moves on to the next level.

It's fair to say that the game isn't great. Avoiding the obstacles is far too difficult and winning fights seems somewhat random at times, due in part to some slightly iffy collision detection. The other most noticeable problem that the game has is the painfully slow scrolling of the play-area between screens.

On a positive note, the music for the game was written by Chris Chris Hülsbeck and is excellent. In particular, the title music is excellent and plays for almost as long as the actual game takes to complete.

Speaking of completion, the game contains three levels, but there doesn't appear to be an ending. As soon as the third level is complete, the game loops back to the first level and gameplay continues.

Can Guru is not the worst game I've ever played, but it's far from being a decent title. The concept is solid enough, but avoiding the enemies is too difficult a task at times and the game is far less fun to play as a result.

Although a quirky novelty, the game is far more likely to have you hopping mad than jumping for joy.
