In this video, we unbox and check out the the Fixture S1 Pro Controller Clip Mount for the Nintendo Switch.

In late 2019, I received an awesome package from the folks at Fixture Gaming, their S1 Founder's Edition Pro Controller Clip Mount for the Switch. From the first time I used it I was in love. It was such a better experience for me than stock handheld mode for me, it was amazingly well balanced, I could use both my Nintendo and KMD Pro Controllers, and the overall gameplay experience was vastly superior.

Fast-forward to Fall 2020 and Fixture Gaming sent me the production version of the S1 to check out, and it takes everything I loved about the Founder's Edition and turned it up to 11. The overall design is identical to the Founder's Edition, but the design is much more polished & finalized. The 3D Printed SLA material is now updated with finalized molded injection composite, giving it a more polished overall look and feel. They added some non-slip rubber membranes around the entire unit, between the base and the Pro Controller, on the bottom as a non-slip surface, and between the back of your Switch and the S1. These additions better isolate and support the the S1 while in-use. Nice touches for sure!

Just like when I checked out the Founder's Edition, I tested multiple controllers with the S1 to see how the fitment was. As expected, the Nintendo Pro Controller worked perfectly in the S1. It was a perfect fit. I next tried the KMD Pro Controller, and that also fit, but it was a little looser than the Nintendo controller. I could slide it a little bit from side to side, but is was still pretty much locked in. Next I tried the Power A Enhanced Controller and the Old Skool Pro Controller, neither of which worked in the S1. I was not surprised by this as they did not work with the Founder's Edition either.

The overall balance and design of the S1 is amazing. It allows you to replace using your Joy Cons in handheld mode with a real legit Pro controller. The Pro Controller has superior analog sticks, buttons, and D-Pads compared to the Joy Cons, yielding a more precise gameplay experience. Beyond this, you also get an incredibly portable mount that can fit just about anywhere, AND doubles as a tabletop stand. I didn't think I'd want to replace my Founder's Edition, but man, the production version allows me to retire it and keep it in amazing shape while having an awesome handheld gameplay experience.

Why it RoX:
- The best handheld experience to-date
- Works exactly as advertised
- Infinitely adjustable
- Awesome tabletop mode
- Compatible with OEM Nintendo & KMD Pro Controllers
- Looks great in both black and red/blue
- Multiple purchase options
- Makes me want to play my Switch in Handheld Mode more than ever

What could be improved?
- Not compatible with all Pro Controllers
- Not compatible with the Switch Lite

Should You Buy One?
Since I got my Founder's Edition S1, I have played my Switch more in handheld mode than ever, even when not traveling. THIS is the definitive way to play your Nintendo Switch while in handheld mode, and the Pro Controller gives you the best control possible. Not only do you have an amazing handheld experience, but you have a convenient table top mount all in one package. Going from SLA/Rapid Prototype to molded composite really improves the way the S1 slides into the rails on the Switch, as the SLA can provide a bit of resistance. The smooth molded composite slides right in while holding securely. As I said a year ago, the S1 gives me a super-sturdy, adjustable platform to play from, and I totally dig it!
