In this video, we unbox and test fit the Mumba Thunderbolt Marble TPU case designed to protect your Nintendo Switch Lite.

I have tested a lot of cases for the Nintendo Switch Lite, and I've possibly tested more cases from Mumba than perhaps any other manufacturer. In the past I've checked out their Blade series of cases, but a new case from them recently arrived on my doorstep, and that is their Thunderbolt case. This one, which they've nicknamed "Girl Power", is one of three cases in the line designed to fit the Switch Lite. Two other colors are available, one which is simply clear, and one which reminds me of looking at the back of Pikachu. In all, these are three good looking cases.

The case itself is made from TPU, or Thermoplastic Polyurethane. This rubberize material provides lightweight protection for your system and can be molded in a variety of different shapes, shades, and colors. The Thunderbolt case features precise openings to accommodate the fans, triggers, headphone jack, cartridge slot, and charge port. The case is somewhat thick, which means that the USB-C port is too far away from the outside of the case. This means you cannot use 3rd party charge docks with this case installed, such as those available from Nintendo or KMD for example. While a bummer, this is not unexpected.

The back of the Thunderbolt case is a very smooth surface to the touch, which is both a blessing and a curse. It is very soft to the touch, which makes it nice to hold in the hand. However, this also means that it can be a bit of a challenge to hold on to, and prone to slipping off of tables if you leave your system near the edge. Just be cognizant of this and you'll be just fine.

Another part of the back of the Thunderbolt case is the molded in grip humps on each side. Unlike the Blade Series of cases from Mumba, these humps are more rounded with no abrupt edges or sharp points. For some, this may make the Thunderbolt case more comfortable to hold than the Blade case, but your mileage may vary.

Many people wonder if cases such as these will leave any sort of marking or residue on the back of your system. The printed pattern is actually between layers of TPU material, so you'll never have your system in-contact with the print to begin with. I'll also say they have made an improvement over the Blade case around the opening for the triggers. Where the 2 halves come together on the Thunderbolt case, the transition is very smooth, probably the smoothest they have molded and produced to this point. I am a big fan of this change, it makes the Thunderbolt a lot more comfortable to hold and use over the long-run.

Why It RoX:
- 3 different color options
- Designed with women in mind
- Seam edges much improved over other designs
- Very comfortable
- Under $20
- Alleviated fatigue during gameplay
- Lightweight

What Could be Improved?
- Slippery back
- Not widely available
- An integrated kickstand could be nice
- More colors would be nice

Should you buy one?
Mumba really does make some nice cases, and the Thunderbolt is one of their best to-date. It's very comfortable to hold and Ginger said her hands were less fatigued after playing Animal Crossing for several hours. She felt the grips were perfectly sized, I would have preferred if they were slightly larger. I do like the fact that they have a case designed with a feminine flair, but doing something for all 4 of the regular Switch Lite colors would actually be a nice improvement. This pink Thunderbolt Case would look great on the Coral, or even the Black versions, but I think it sticks out a bit, color-wise, on the Turquoise version of Ginger's. In all, she liked it quite a bit, and she continues to use it quite a bit while trying to collect those bells!
