The Black Cauldron - ADG Episode 283
It didn't almost kill Sierra... but it DID almost kill Disney! :o
Today on Ancient DOS Games, Gemini's taking a look at The Black Cauldron, the third game ever made by Sierra using their AGI Adventure Game Interpreter engine back in 1986. While this game ties in the with the Disney movie of the same name fairly well and has been simplified for kids by removing the text parser, replacing it with simple button commands, it does indeed carry many of the typical tropes you would expect out of an old Sierra adventure game, for better or worse.

Additional Information and Corrections:
* Here's a link to the page on Al Lowe's website where you can download the game from: https://allowe.com/downloads/games.html
* One of the things I didn't find out about until after getting the script voiced is that there's a bug in the game which can affect rescuing Hen-Wen, which is triggered if the sound is off, as the trigger for a game over when Hen-Wen starts divining the location of the Black Cauldron is for no sound to be playing... but if sound is turned off then this is immediately detected since the divination music doesn't play, immediately giving you a game over! Now, there are multiple revisions of the game so it's possible this bug was fixed in one of them.
