I'm sure at least a few of these are on sale today! It's just a gimmick excuse to play horror games. This Black Friday, we're serving up some modern takes on old school survival horror. If you've been missing that old Silent Hill/Resident Evil/Alone in the Dark vibe, don't miss this one. These games have been personally selected by Pat Gee, STG artist, for being especially notable and novel modern examples of the genre. This is me, I'm Pat Gee, I'm the guy, I'm talking about myself in the third person. This Friday at 1pm EST, my wife and I are gonna be playing...

Murder House, grindhouse indie survival horror by Puppet Combo. Real nasty stuff. Looks like an old PS1 game, but makes you want to take a shower, as if the pixels themselves were somehow filthy. We've got fixed camera angles, we've got janky shooting, we've got one (1) safe room, and we've got a creepy old house with a murderous Easter Bunny. You can get it on Steam or itch.io but the best thing you can do is subscribe to Puppet Combo's Patreon and just get every game he's ever made or will ever make.

Tormented Souls, a game which plays almost exactly like a PS2 Silent Hill game, but looks like... a PS3 game. Well, PS4. It looks nice, I'm not complaining, not everything has to look like the Resident Evil remakes. The Silent Hill remake, for example, would benefit from every member of the cast looking 35% more uncanny and bizarre. Down with photo-realism. I actually don't know a lot about Tormented Souls and I am dying to play it. It's available all over the place, even Switch!

Signalis, a new survival horror game I've beaten twice since its release last month. I am deeply in love with it. Do you like Resident Evil, Silent Hill, and also Ghost in the Shell, Neon Genesis Evangelion, and cosmic horror? Well boy do I have the video game for you. Signalis is a modern survival horror masterpiece. You can grab it on most platforms, but it is free on Xbox Game Pass, so go get a trial and download this game!

And last but not least, Super Lone Survivor, the remaster of Lone Survivor. Lone Survivor was one of the earliest indie survival horrors and still, if not the scariest, certainly one of the most off-kilter and imaginative. Try to imagine 8-bit Silent Hill set in a surprisingly prescient pandemic in a world halfway between Twin Peaks and The Walking Dead, and you're almost halfway to understanding what it's doing. You'll need to hide and shoot, and find keys and solve puzzles, and talk to weirdos who may or may not even be real, but you'll also need to eat, and you'll want to put on a pot of coffee, pet your stuffed kitty, and pass the time with a book or a video game, all to a banging soundtrack that rivals some of the best work in the genre. Lone Survivor's a wild game! Super Lone Survivor is, weirdly, only available on Steam, with a forthcoming Switch release. However, you can still buy the Lone Survivor Director's Cut in most places. The branding on this game's various releases is a nightmare. We'll talk about it.

As always, give us a like and subscribe if you haven't. Ding that bell if it's been a minute. Drop into the chat and say hi.
