The BLOODY BASIN Road Experience | Journey to the Sheep Bridge & What NOT To Do | Arizona
346North of Phoenix in the Agua Fria National Monument and Tonto National Forest is a 38-mile classic offroad Arizona drive. From hairpin turns, distant canyon and mountain views, and a historic bridge at the end, you cannot beat this experience.
Bloody Basin Road is an adventure like no other. This epic journey takes you about 38 miles from I-17 to the historic Sheep Bridge through some of the most beautiful terrains you will see. If you want a true Arizona adventure - this one is for you!
This trip is not for the faint of heart. Expect to spend an entire day making the journey and back so budget your time wisely. While many websites say a passenger car can make this trip, we recommend high clearance as a must and 4-wheel drive wouldn't hurt either. There are a number of portions that may easily become washed out or rocky depending on current conditions or any rains that have happened recently. One river crossing is also near the beginning of the trip so be sure to check water levels in case of flooding. Normally crossing is not an issue.
Come prepared for amazing views, bring snacks or a lunch and have an amazing time. You won't regret this trip!
