The James Clerk Maxwell Telescope is the largest telescope on the summit of Mauna Kea (VLBA is slightly below the summit :) and the device with the coldest instruments. To image clouds of gas in deep space with temperatures of 10Kelvin the SCUBA 2 imager is cooled to 0.015K! Making it one of the coldest experiments on the planet.
