The Current Issue with Matchmaking In Overwatch 2
23Overwatch 2 current matchmaking is currently not working as it should. This issue is ofcourse in many games, however in Overwatch 2 this issue seems to be more adressed.
Good things to note that below this is often the bigger issues on why matchmaking is hard to balance.
Overwatch 2 matchmaking system relies on a player's skill rating to match them with other players of similar skill levels. However, if a player's skill rating is inaccurate, they might end up being matched with players that are either too easy or too hard to beat, resulting in a frustrating experience.
Smurfing is when a high-skilled player creates a new account to play against lower-skilled players. This can lead to lopsided matches and unfair advantages, which can be frustrating for players who are trying to improve their skills.
Overwatch 2 has different hero roles, such as tank, support, and damage. If there is a shortage of players in one role, matchmaking can struggle to find balanced matches.
Players who group up with friends of different skill levels can create imbalanced matches, as the matchmaking system tries to average out the skill levels of the group. This can lead to matches that are either too easy or too hard for certain players.
