At least I consider it "Free-Roaming" when that cataclysmic event happens and splits Gensokyo up. This is when the game gets good.
If you're curious about what happened between all those scenes I skipped it goes like this (not really): A trio of girls backed by a trio of demons attack. Summons a giant tower that splits Gensokyo apart. It's up to you to go incident solving with your band of touhou characters and shikigami.
I'm bracing myself for a fantastic difficulty curve. Like Genius.
