We finally got The Division to play at 4K/60fps, with some pretty good settings, my amigos, and I'm mighty glad.

I discuss the road to getting here, and what my experience has been with 4K and SLI so far.

Watch me struggle to play this game, in 4K, with a single GTX 1080: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SX67Nb5ucyE

Here, I try another 11 games, with SLI 1070's. Most have good to great results: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nh8_4IOxLTo

i7 6700K (4.7Ghz)
16GB DDR4 Gskill (3200Mhz)
MSI GTX 1070 Sea Hawk X (overclocked)
EVGA GTX 1070 FTW (overclocked)
SSD
Windows 10

So far this, system has nailed every game I've thrown at it. SLI does have some quirks, and it's not perfect. But the results are better than I could have imagined, after seeing how much trouble a single GTX 1080 had with some of the same games.

Some of the imperfections include shadows popping in, in weird ways, sometimes micro stuttering (but not nearly as much as I had anticipated), and some other random hiccups.

I'm not big on recommending SLI systems, because they're not as simple as single card solutions, but so far, I've been enjoying it. (this is after dealing with some hiccups to get things going, which I might explain in another video...) I actually had my system disable SLI, but "say" that SLI was still enabled, at one point. I had to disable it and re-enable it to make it work again. There have been other issues.

I spent the better part of a week ironing all of the kinks out before posting this video. An experienced SLI system user would probably have worked it out more quickly.

This is very much a "pro and con" situation. There are cons to playing in 4K, in every way. But there are pro's also. The people who say 1440p is a good compromise are right.

You can play 1440p with single GPU, and you can even get decent frame rates.

But man... 4K is almost nice enough to deal with SLI. Not nice enough for me to recommend people do it. But nice enough that I have, personally, enjoyed it, so far.

Keep in mind that me continuing to like it is contingent on whether or not I run into any more issues. If games play as well as they have been the last couple of days, I'll probably stay happy. But if the system starts having more quirks, I might grow tired of dealing with it. So far, 4K has been so beautiful (on a TV, no less) that I have been compelled to work through the issues I've had with getting it going. Hopefully, this system stays running well.
