The Elder Scrolls Adventures: Redguard (1998) Introduction in BEAR-O-VISION™ (MS-DOS) (4K)
Bear play Redguard. Not like other Elder Scrolls. No make own bear—only play one human. Human swing sword, jump, climb, fight bad men. World big, but not open like deep forest. More like path in cave—only one way forward. Game feel like old story told by fire. Many danger, many adventure. Retrobear like sword fight, but miss choice. No make own legend, only follow human’s tale.
The Elder Scrolls Adventures: Redguard, released in 1998 by Bethesda Softworks, is a swashbuckling action-adventure spin-off set in The Elder Scrolls universe. Unlike the mainline RPG entries, Redguard features a fixed protagonist, Cyrus, a rogue Redguard mercenary searching for his missing sister in the province of Hammerfell. The game blends third-person sword-fighting, puzzle-solving, and exploration with a rich, lore-driven narrative that expands on the history of Tamriel. Featuring fully voiced dialogue, hand-painted environments, and a dynamic orchestral soundtrack, Redguard was an ambitious departure from Bethesda’s typical open-world formula. Though it was a commercial underperformer at release, it remains a cult classic for Elder Scrolls fans who appreciate its unique take on the series’ universe.
