In this part, we head back to Viridian City to challenge the Viridian Gym and it's mysterious Ground-Type leader (We all know it's Giovanni). Ground Types are best dealt with by using Water or Grass type moves. After defeating Giovanni, we receive the Earth Badge, and access to the Pokémon League! Giovanni also steps down as both leader of Team Rocket and the Viridian Gym Leader. Outside we talk to Blue who mentions he'll become the new Viridian Gym leader, but he refuses to battle us and sends us off to the Pokémon League. Instead of heading there, we head over to Cerulean City and back through Route 7. We Sea Skim through the water, and arrive at the Power Plant.
