In this part, we take on the Cinnabar Gym and it's Fire-Type leader, Blaine. Getting the Secret Key was enough of a prerequisite, so we gain free access. While in this gym, we will be asked 5 questions, if we answer them right, we get a Blaine Doll and move on to the next question. However if we answer them wrong, we are forced to fight a trainer, and upon winning, we receive the Blaine Doll (I intentionally answer all the questions incorrectly to show off the trainers and get extra exp, but I hover over the correct answers before picking the wrong ones). Once we receive 5 Blaine Dolls, we fight Blaine himself. After defeating Blaine, we are awarded the Volcano Badge. Next, we Sea Skim through Route and catch Tentacruel, Starmie, and Tangela along the way before returning to Pallet Town where we started the game. We move on to Viridian City only to see the Gym is still closed and return to Pallet Town to ask Professor Oak for help. We meet up with Professor Oak and Blue to receive a Key Stone as well as Venusaurite, Charizardite X, Charizardite Y, and Blastoisinite which allows us to Mega Evolve those specific pokemon in battle. This also causes the Viridian Gym to open.
