The Endless Crusade, Part 1 - A Crusader States Campaign - Medieval 2: Total War SS 6.4
Turns 1-4:
We open our brand new Crusader States Campaign humbly, with very few troops, only four settlements, and four generals. Under our weakness lies great potential, however, as our Generals are each legends in their own right. The first edict from the King in 1100 is to send a diplomat immediately to the Papacy, securing what will hopefully be an endless and fruitful alliance. Our diplomat is thensent onward to Sciliy and the other great Catholic powers to establish more prudent alliances, and to generate income by selling map information of the little-known levant to the Catholic Lords and Kings. The King and Prince, along with a small and seemingly weak cavalry force besiege the principality of Acre, where they wait outside the walls, taunting the rebels inside. Meanwhile, infantry is sent to besiege the castle of Kerak, south-east of Jerusalem, in anticipation of the command of Lord Thomas Darkweaver, who by summer's end will be crowned "King of Jerusalem". In the north, Bohemund scouts towards the Armenian motte and bailey, Adana, with a similarly small cavalry force, attempting to draw the Armenians into open battle outside the walls. Units are sent from Antioch and Edessa to lay siege to Aleppo, and another diplomat is sent north to the Seljuk Turks, to secure map information and trade rights, in preperation for our ultimate invasion of Asia Minor in the years to come. That first summer ends with the fall and sack of every afore-mentioned settlement, save for Aleppo. The Fatimids send an emmisary to establish trade, and exchange map info for FAR too many goats. They settle for only twenty goats and one pee-pee touch in exchange for their map information. An unwise decision by the sultan, for all the goats and pee pee touches cannot prevent his eventual downfall now that Egyptian lands are well-mapped by our experienced and bloodthirsty generals. The turks, upon entering negotiations, do likewise, selling out their security for only 30 goats. Aleppo finally falls, and Lord Darkwevaer, after sacking Kerak, befriends none other than the Grandmaster of the Order of the Knights Hospitaller. Filled with brotherly "love", they turn their eyes towards Egypt, and the endless crusade to come...
