''The Expendables'' hits U.S. movie theaters on August 13, 2010. The movie reunites some of the most well-known action movie heroes of recent decades, led by the movie's co-writer and director, Sylvester Stallone. The film brings together such stars as Jet Li, Jason Statham, Mickey Rourke and Dolph Lundgren. ''The Expendables'' also features cameo appearances by Bruce Willis and California Governor (and former ''Terminator'') Arnold Schwarzenegger. Mixed martial arts star Randy Couture, wrestler "Stone Cold" Steve Austin and former NFL defensive player Terry Crews also appear in the movie.

In ''The Expendables,'' Sly Stallone plays Barney Ross, the leader of a gang of mercenaries who travel to South Africa to try and overthrow evil dictator General Garza. Garza is under the control of an ex-CIA operative.

Overall, reviews for ''The Expendables'' were mixed or average in the days before the film's August 13, 2010, release. ''The Expendables'' garnered a 48 percent rating on the Rotten Tomatoes "Tomatometer" on the afternoon of August 11. Movie critic Sheri Linden of ''The Hollywood Reporter'' calls ''The Expendables'' "an effective mix of lean and over-the-top," adding that "the body count is high and the personalities click." Linden goes on to say "The Expendables" is an "old-school testosterone fest." Entertainment Weekly's Owen Gleiberman praised Stallone's directing in the movie, saying "every machete thrust and relentless round of bullet spray is staged with a certain undeniable...conviction." Pete Hammond of Boxoffice Magazine says ''The Expendables'' is "a sort of "Dirty Dozen" meets "Inglourious Basterds"- and then some."

''The Expendables'' might not be for everybody, but If you're a fan of the action genre, then this movie might be just the ticket, and if you're a Stallone fan, then it's a must see.
