In today's video the long-awaited next gen update for fallout 4 is finally out. I go over all of the features of the next gen update including the performance and quality video modes as well as go over the effect it had on all of the mods I had downloaded. Overall, the update isn't great I would say. The most positive thing I can say about it is that it didn't crash once in my hours that it took me to record this video. They didn't increase the mod limit from 2GB. Performance on Xbox Series X specifically seemed to be better with fps boost mode on compared to the new performance mode option and the new quality mode is just the "I want my game to run not as well mode." The game does look better than it ever has on console, but it still doesn't match the maxed-out PC version. Also, I check out the PC version cause the optimist in me thought they would finally change the fact that physics are tied to framerate. They didn't, and the pc version larger feels exactly the same as before the update. The console version definitely felt worse in some ways other than framerate, with large lurching stutters that I haven't experienced in a long time and even big pauses to quick save. I was really hopeful this update was going to do great things but it's just not good overall. I'm still hopeful that the new content added to the game will be good and I will be covering that in future videos.
