Sin and Punishment is a rail shooter action game for the Nintendo 64, developed by Treasure, a game developer known for developing challenging, but highly polished action games, such as Ikaruga or Gunstar Heroes.
Originally, it was only released in Japan, but thanks to the Wii's Virtual Console and Nintendo Switch Online, it is possible for players to experience this game outside of Japan.

This video shows a tool-assisted playthrough (a tool-assisted superplay, or TAS) on the highest difficulty setting (Hard difficulty) with Turbo Mode and Frame Skip enabled.
Turbo Mode and Frame Skip are two options that are unlocked when beating this game on Hard difficulty. Enabling them greatly increases the speed at which the game is running and skips frames at certain parts to accelerate the game even further, making it one of most thrilling experiences the N64 has to offer. One highlight is the infamous Stage 2-2 (the fleet on the sea) where the camera now moves with a speed and intensity that is rarely found in other games.

As of now (January 2023), no known human has ever beaten this game with these settings without continues (that is, without dying). One person (Domenic) has beaten this game on Hard + Turbo + Frame Skip using continues over a span of a couple of months, which really shows how hard this is. Some clips of his playthrough can be found here:    • Sin and Punishment Hard Turbo Frame S...

The tool-assisted run shown in this video is not only a no-continue run, but it also beats the game without taking any damage. "Tool-assisted" means that an emulator with savestates and frame advance was used to create inputs with superhuman speed and precision for this run. This also makes it possible to use risky strategies and showcase unusual ways to play this game. Some personal highlights that showcase this and the game's sheer difficulty:

Three sentries in Stage 2-2: 13:20
Final phase of the Birth Model boss: 21:23
The final boss beaten with unusual strats: 27:16

This also allows me to skip cutscenes at the earliest possible frame, resulting in the sudden cuts between stage transitions. The focus of this tool-assisted run is to beat the game without taking damage and to show some unusual strategies for entertainment. It is not focused on maximizing score or beating the game in the lowest time possible, so there are some parts where I do not kill all enemies or where I take my time with killing an enemy.

There are more than enough ways for you to experience this game for yourself, so make sure to check it out!
I recommend Easy Difficulty + Turbo Mode + Frame Skip which allows you to feel the thrill of this game from beginning to end without requiring superhuman reflexes.
