Believe it or not Unreal Championship was actually the first console game ever to receive an online patch. As common as patches are now for every game out there back in 2002 this was cutting edge stuff and at that time pretty controversial. The Unreal patch simply fixed some frame rate issues the game was having and some weapon exploits but some people thought this was a slippery slope to just releasing unrefined games and fixing it after the fact. and after a couple decades I think we can safely say they were pretty much right about that but it is still interesting that a forgotten game like this paved the way for the future of post launch updates on consoles that we have today.
