Fighting the raiders during the Beacon War rounds remains the most productive way to gather rewards with less risk. Some of the rewards are the Talent Books, but mainly the Ether Shards. Other things like the blueprints and materials help, but the materials, weapons, and tools remain to be minor rewards since they are often not useful, as in better than you can make. I haven't played rounds above level 14 yet, so maybe in the higher round numbers you will get something that is better than first level. After round 4 first level rewards are the same as what you can craft, so not going to improve your success in the higher round numbers. To keep up with the damage resistance of the raiders, especially the tougher ones like the Heavy Chopper, you have to start making weapons using the blueprints. By Spacetime Beacon 5 you need to be crafting weapons from the green background blueprints, and by round 7, the blue blueprints.
