The Game That Had Everything to Be Good... BUT IT ISN’T!
In the Chronological Walkthrough Through Gaming History, it’s time to analyze Lord of the Sword, released for the Master System in 1988 by SEGA. This classic has some good elements, like a decent soundtrack, fair graphics, and a story with a certain charm, but the overall experience is disappointing.
Gameplay is stiff, exploration is poorly executed, and the map—both in the manual and in-game—is confusing and practically useless. Combat boils down to repetitive sword slashes and arrow shots against enemies that offer no real rewards. The lack of healing items, upgrades, or deeper mechanics makes the whole experience tedious.
Although it’s an old game from the 8-bit era, it doesn’t deliver the fun you’d expect from a retro title of its time. For retro gamers seeking retrogaming and nostalgic experiences, there might be some curiosity to check it out, but unfortunately, it falls far short of its potential.
