Malediction tapped into an ancient nostalgia I'd forgotten I had. Which might sound weird since... interactive YouTube games haven't been around for terribly long, but it's off beat characters... menu based progression... and bizarre tendency to switch between claustrophobic horror and random internet humor reminded me deeply of Newgrounds period of escape room flash games and odd sprite parodies. Whether this was intentional or not on the part of the developer is anyones guess but everything still felt better for it regardless.

To clarify further, Malediction is a choose your own adventure horror game thing that uses YouTube as it's format for decision making. You can begin playing by going to StuffyStudios YouTube page and making choices at the end of each video in the form of recommended content cards. During the end of the first chapters video you'll be brought to a series of short, unlisted ones that vary depending on your action in the last video.
The “battle system” (if you can even call it that) works the same as the rest of the game and usually involves choosing between two actions. Typically fighting or using an item.
