The Groundhogs - Split - Part Three (1971)
At last, the final remaining song from The Groundhogs album Split is done, also completing side one of the album. "Split - Part Four" was done last year, "Split - Part One" in
2020, and "Split - Part Two" way back in 2016 as part of a two-song combo that included "Cherry Red" that was recorded live at BBC One. I prefer both "Cherry Red" and "Split - Part Two" in this way than as separate tracks on the Split album, an unusual thing the live version being better than the studio. Side two has been complete for some time, mostly from 2015 and 2016 and also 2020.
Of all the Split songs, "Split - Part Three" is the most abstract and thus the most difficult of the four to do. Even more challenging was my decision to combine special effects motion picture scenes with AI motion picture. I did something similar with my video of "Part Four" ... but that song's rhythm and beat was such that I was able to inject dance
motion picture segments into it. No such luck here, all is conceptual and avant-garde. Anyway, enjoy the show ... it is certainly mind-bending enough and some might even say \npsychedelic.
