Aside from being a clear homage to Iudex Gundyr, the Corruption of the guardian takes a formerly imposing and powerful warrior, and while giving it greater raw strength, reduces it to swinging blindly at the player in desperation. Eksylls experiments have clearly gone horrible wrong. Or horribly right

Also, to note is that the Official art shows the Guardians second phase as quite imposing, but in game it basically just spams the same attack over and over, so I think my interpretation has a leg to stand on
