20Khalid bin Mohsen Shaari was a Saudi Arabian man who suffered from a severe case of obesity. He weighed around 1,345 pounds (610 kilograms), making him the heaviest people in the world at the time.
King Abdullah, the ruler of Saudi Arabia at the time, ordered that Shaari be airlifted to a hospital in Riyadh for treatment.
Doctors at the hospital put Shaari on a strict diet and exercise regimen, and he underwent a series of surgeries to help him lose weight. Over the course of several months, he lost more than 700 pounds (318 kilograms).
