56I've made games for 25+ years. I've had moments of sheer joy and I've had moments of horror and stress about as bad as anything I've ever felt.
On the bad days it's crucial to check in and make sure the work itself is what you love and not just the outcome. Cause in video games- and entertainment in general- the final products are super seductive (colorful, bright, attractive, shiny) and they can make you forget the hell you went through in order to complete your creation.
These days I'm thinking a lot about the hell and the joy of making games as I try to decide if I want to throw my hat back into the creative ring.
