The Kia Optima. A brilliant saloon that was ignored.
The 2014/2015 Optima is a high spec, great value for money car which was giving higher-end manufacturers a run for their money. I take a look at what goes on, inside and out, and do so in a cinematic way that is hopefully more entertaining than most reviews.
In an era where leasing a Mercedes is cheaper than buying outright, the humble saloons made by Ford, Kia, Skoda, and other non-premium manufacturers are dwindling. But this is what's being missed out on. The Optima is a "made for the US market" large saloon with so many features that it could make Mercedes blush. They might offer more features, but the Optima has all of them as standard for the trim level, and that's what sets it apart as an excellent second-hand purchase and has definitely been perfect for me as a daily driver. It's been doing the short city trips, as well as London, and then longer motorway trips around the country and even to Paris whilst being comfortable and maintaining great economy.
Unfortunately, the 2020 Optima will not be for sale in Europe, as the rise of SUVs can be blamed for dwindling non-premium saloon sales.
