Convert an Office PC (Dell Optiplex) into a BEAST Gaming PC! Since building a PC with a good graphics card is incredibly expensive at the moment, maybe it's time to take a look at how to make it far more affordable by upcycling an old Dell Optiplex into a modern day gaming machine.

With perfectly capable hardware, this trumps even a lot of new builds using cheaper and less powerful components, such as the GTX 1050Ti, which is a very popular low end card due to its affordability and stock levels. It also has a fairly recent Intel Core i5 6500, which still performs well as a mid-range CPU, and will not bottleneck as much as a cheaper and older card.

I sourced all of these products from eBay, Amazon or through Classifieds, so it goes to show that it's very easy to strike a good deal when everywhere else seems to be struggling.

GPU Comparison with one of the most affordable cards, the GTX 1050Ti: https://gpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Nvidia-GTX-780-vs-Nvidia-GTX-1050-Ti/2164vs3649

Specs:
Intel Core i5 6500 CPU
Silencio 212 Cooler Master CPU Fan
8GB DDR3L RAM
Dell Optiplex SFF Motherboard
Nvidia Gigabyte Windforce GTX 780 Graphics Card
128GB Factory SSD
1TB Seagate Barracuda 7200RPM HDD
Corsair Carbide 275R Case
EVGA 600W 80+ White PSU

Update: Although there have been no signs of thermal throttling so far, the PC does blow out very warm air and so it might be worth investing in some additional case fans. These can be found for VERY cheap on Amazon. If you bought a case with existing fans (such as an RGB style case) then you should be seeing better temperatures initially anyway!
