Believe it or not, Athena here is actually the oldest veteran out of these three SNK heroines, having made her debut in the 1987 arcade game 'Psycho Soldier'. (Mai Shiranui would make her first appearance in the 1992 fighting game 'Fatal Fury 2', while Yuri Sakazaki would make her playable debut in the 1994 fighting game 'Art of Fighting 2' despite being present in 'Art of Fighting', also from 1992.) Not only that, she's also the only female to have attended every single mainline KOF tournament to date. And yes, this year not only happens to coincide with the 35th anniversary of 'Psycho Soldier', but also marks the 30th anniversary of 'Fatal Fury 2' (and by extension the entire 'Art of Fighting' franchise).

Small wonder, then, that these three SNK icons would form Team Super Heroine in KOF XV...
