The @LeagueofPuzzleSpeedrunners is having a minor speedrun tournament in July 2023. For the month of April, their Discord server is hosting a poll to decide what game will be played in that tournament. Games like Kirby's Avalanche and Super Puzzle Fighter II: Turbo are possible options. Come to the Discord and nominate more!

I tend to gravitate towards speedruns of games I played in my childhood. Thanks to the Sega Channel, I got to experience Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine (with characters that I watched a fair bit). This game is basically a different version of that, which is, itself, a different version of the Japanese exclusive Super Puyo Puyo.

I chose Easy mode for this speedrun session and the tournament poll to accommodate as many puzzle speedrunners who are not as experienced with Puyo games as their main games, like myself. Of particular note were the first and last runs of this session emphasized here.

Just a heads up, I am not a great Puyo player. I am not trained in tailing or sandwich formations. Prepare to see lots of attempts at stairs, keyword "attempts."

At this rate, this will not be the last time I speedrun this game this year.
