The Last Command | 1928 Full Movie | William Powell Silent Movie
We are near the end of the silent movie era in 1928 with The Last Command, one of several movies from 1928 considered classic silent films. Filmmakers such as Josef von Sternberg, who made this Sunday afternoon movie, seemed to be hitting their groove in this very young art form/entertainment medium.
The Last Command itself is about a former revolutionary, played by William Powell, giving a former Czarist general, played by Emil Jannings who won the first Best Actor Oscar for this role, a part in the film he is directing with the thought of humiliating the former general. This movie just fell into the public domain on January 1st, 2024.
