The Last Day - Arcade (1990)
0Are we going to quit arcade and Atari games anytime soon? No. Got a little while longer before that train ends.
Are we going to get better games? Well this isn't a good start. I've certainly missed some good ones, but this isn't it. It's a playable shooter that looks fine, but it has a lot wrong with it. Usually I'm a big anti-gimmick person, but this needed a gimmick pretty badly. It's stiff to control, but not annoyingly to control. It's all about the offence...or lack of. Stray shots that would usually help clear a wave in other shooters miss so much here. Maybe it's hitboxes. You also don't have a lot to attack with. Powerups are rare and with enemy shots being so fast and easy to lose track of on the field, you're not going to hang onto those powerups for too long to get into any sort of groove.
