36Me covering one of my all time favourite songs.The Last Hour, by Elliott Smith is maybe one of his softest, most heart wrenching songs. It reminds me of some sort of sad lullaby. To me, the song embodies the concept of giving up and giving in, and letting the negative things in life win. It touches on some sort of break up, and to me gives me the sense that this breakup is the final straw. The subject has no more strength left in him to fight, and is allowing himself to be overcome by the pain and loneliness. The only redeeming quality being the relief of not having to struggle anymore.
The vocal range of this song is really wide. Some may notice I drop/raise octaves at certain points differently than the recording. I took a lot of liberties with the chords too hah.
