The Last Remnant PC: 1st Hour of Gameplay [1080p] (Part 1)
My thoughts on this game(Yes, I did complete this game few years ago):
Half of the dialogue is cheesy. I think the writers intended Rush to be that silly.
Characters are so-so. Torgal and Emma are badass. Alot of people voiced their opinions that the Voice Actors in the game are not that good, however I think they are expecting abit too much. The problem is due to the fact that there is alot of unique characters, hence compromising Quality for Quantity. Honestly, the most cringe worthy VA is the one voicing Rush. Most other characters voices are average, and not bad.
The lore has potential but story lost it.
Battle System is either a hit or miss for everyone. (The battle system has great potential if not for its flaws but I enjoyed it). Difficulty is punishing and may deem unfair to several people, which is understandable but can be easily grind through.
Some people dislike this battle system because you can't really have everyone use weapon arts/spells in a single command despite having alot of AP. However, I think the probability of weapon arts/spell commands appearing is determined by the current individual Union morale (Orange bar).
Atmosphere is driven very well by its battle system and music. Props to the composer.
Music theme will change depending on your Army's Morale. Boss fight battles are memorable due to the music and atmosphere.
Lengthy game for those who want to 100% complete the game. Several miss-able and important quests for True Final Boss & additional characters.
You will experience VERY little of the game if you complete the storyline quests only. Sidequests are meaningful as you will need to complete them to unlock several Secret bosses and acquire new Characters/Leaders that are more useful (subjective) or awesome than your current Characters.
I recommend people to test the Demo on Steam if you want to buy it. I do not recommend it for the Story/Plot, but note that this game is unique for its battle system (Turned based game controlling Unions in large scale battles?!) and reputable for its music. This game will last you for a long time compared to WRPGs I played on PC, I'm not sure about JRPGs though.
