Normal Mode

Summary:

First up is the tutorial sewer dungeon. Balstar Channel, which is far more complex than our first one and even has a boss.

Boss: Kurt Nardin

You shouldn't have to waste your surprise cookie here, since he has no way to heal or seriously damage you. He's annoying in a physical fight due to his defense buff and ability to knock your characters away, though arts will work well enough.

Afterwards, Estelle and Anelace will return to the lodge. Estelle notices that Kurt dropped a good amount of sepith and a powerful quartz. She suggests that now would be a good time to make more quartz or upgrade slots. Players should take her suggestion, since the Jaegers will launch a surprise attack after bedtime. Be sure to have Estelle wake up immediately for BP.

Boss: Jaeger Swordsman

According to the guide, winning against this boss is optional, though it should still be fairly easy if both characters can heal. Since he hits pretty hard, try to have Anelace buff and hope he hits her enough to fill up her CP. Then activate the S-Craft while she's still buffed for major damage.

Afterwards, another Jaeger will appear and use knockout gas on the party. Estelle and Anelace will wake up in Saint Croix Forest, where some of their equipment is missing and scattered in treasure chests. Obviously, during the dialogue choice, the correct answer is that the Jaegers brought them here. The next part consists of looking for lost items and fighting past another Jaeger. Luckily, the tent where the party woke up can be used to heal HP and EP.

Also, some of the enemy encounters will have randomly have a Shining Pom, just because they were somewhat easy to farm in the first game when they were visible encounters.

Boss: Female Jaeger Gunner

She has a powerful grenade attack and a not-so-powerful art cancelling attack, so you can make things easier by being in a casting phase while her turn is up. If you run out of EP for long range arts, Estelle's Comet is also a good option if she has Attack 1 in her orbment.

Now the party is free to go to the lodge, where they must investigate the scene. At the dialogue choice, say the Jaegers moved to another base, which happens to be Grimsel Fortress. Before going, be sure to get the Gambler Jack book from the second floor and manage your orbment with Robert. Sadly, Phyllis won't be available due to being taken hostage. Hopefully, you bought enough ingredients in case you already used up the Surprise Cookie.
