The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky, known as Eiyū Densetsu VI Sora no Kiseki (英雄伝説VI 空の軌跡) in Japan is a trilogy of role-playing video games produced by Nihon Falcom. Collectively considered to be the sixth game in the The Legend of Heroes series, the three separate titles create a subseries within the series, consisting of The Legend of Heroes: Trails in the Sky First Chapter, Second Chapter, and Third Chapter.
All three parts were initially released on Microsoft Windows in Japan in 2004, and then ported to the PlayStation Portable in Japan beginning on October 28, 2006. The trilogy remained unreleased in any other regions until 2011, when XSEED Games released First Chapter 2011.
While initially announcing that they would be releasing all three, First Chapter proved to be a tremendous localization effort, leaving the rest of the series's English in question. However, on Septmber 6, 2013, XSEED announced that Second Chapter would get a 2014 digital release on both PlayStation Portable and Steam, although the translation would instead be done by localization studio Carpe Fulgur.
The trilogy was re-released in HD in Japan using using the original PC hi-res assets (both visuals and music) while including the additions from the PSP versions for the PlayStation 3. The HD versions are released with the subtitle "Kai HD Edition."
Gameplay
This game's constructed by a series of maps that make up the world. Generally maps are made up mainly of two types: field maps and town maps. Most maps are 3D rotatable. Field maps consists of mainly monsters roaming around, which on touch will engage into combat screen.
The background field for the battles will be determined by where the battle was engaged. These field maps often contain treasure chests that may just lie around or hidden, requiring the player to rotate their screen or see a "!" mark which indicates an object. Town maps are more loaded with NPCs and shops. Shops generally have their own buildings and logo on the minimap which can be toggled within the town.
Players start off in the district of Rolent and travel around the world as the game progresses. The game has a main storyline and heaps of sidequests that can be started at the Bracer's guild or just by talking to NPCs. Sidequests are well-rewarded and will assist in the main story severely.
